Preparing for the Holidays and the 2025 NVLA Conference!

By Tarry Shebesta, NVLA President

As we prepare for the holidays and work towards finishing the year strong, it’s a perfect time to reflect on the progress we’ve made and the challenges ahead. This year has brought unprecedented opportunities for innovation, alongside complex hurdles for our industry. Themes from a recent Auto Lender Roundtable I attended—identity fraud, AI’s transformative role in lending, vehicle affordability, and the potential impacts of the incoming presidential administration—continue to shape the landscape of auto leasing and lending.

Identity Fraud remains a critical issue, with bad actors becoming increasingly sophisticated. Protecting our businesses and customers requires a proactive approach to identity verification and fraud prevention. At NVLA, we are focused on providing resources and strategies to help you stay ahead of these threats, ensuring your operations remain secure and trusted in the marketplace.

We’ve also seen the rapid evolution of AI in lending, unlocking tremendous potential for efficiency and customer satisfaction. From credit decisioning to personalized service, AI is reshaping how we do business. But with great opportunity comes responsibility—ensuring fairness, compliance, and transparency in AI applications is essential. NVLA is here to guide members in adopting these technologies responsibly, helping you remain competitive in this tech-driven era.

On the topic of vehicle affordability, it’s no secret that rising costs are creating challenges for both businesses and consumers. Creative solutions, such as flexible leasing models, subscription options, and innovative pricing strategies, are more important than ever. NVLA continues to work with industry leaders to develop practical approaches to keep leasing and financing accessible and sustainable.

Lastly, the incoming presidential administration is expected to introduce changes that could significantly impact our industry, from regulatory shifts to new tax and incentive policies. NVLA is monitoring these developments closely and will ensure you’re equipped with the knowledge and tools to adapt and thrive as these changes unfold.

I’m also thrilled to announce that our canceled 2024 conference has been rescheduled! Mark your calendars for April 9-10, 2025, when we’ll gather in beautiful Clearwater, Florida. This will be a can’t-miss event featuring insightful sessions on these critical themes, expert-led panels, and unparalleled opportunities to network with peers and industry thought leaders—all in a stunning beachside setting.

Let’s finish the year with determination, focusing on innovation, resilience, and preparation for the opportunities ahead. Watch for announcements on new NVLA member benefits and exciting, informative interactions with our supporting vendors. Thank you for your continued engagement and support, and I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
