The NVLA General Membership Meeting at the 2019 NVLA Annual Conference will feature three votes on proposed changes to the NVLA bylaws.

The first change would increase the number of at-large directors representing associate members by two, for a total of up to three associate at-large directors.

Under the current bylaws, only one associate member is permitted to serve on the NVLA Board of Directors. The proposed change is aimed at promoting broad representation from lenders, manufacturers, and technology-driven companies on the Board of Directors.

A second change would increase the number of at-large directors representing regular members by two, for a total of up to four regular at-large directors. Currently, there are two at-large directors representing regular members.

The recommended increase in regular at-large directors is aimed at countering the reduction of board members stemming from the dissolution of NVLA chapters throughout the country in recent years. In years past, each active chapter had a representative on the Board of Directors, which ensured broad representation from lessors throughout the country.

The final change to the bylaws would enable the NVLA president to serve up to two consecutive one-year terms. The current bylaws allow a president to serve unlimited one-year terms.

The votes on the bylaws changes will take place at the NVLA General Membership Meeting, to be held Thursday, March 28 at the 2019 NVLA Annual Conference in Atlantic Beach, Florida. The meeting will also feature the NVLA elections, presentations on NVLA Affinity Programs, and the presentation of annual awards.
